Ms. Walch is a nationally known health care professional and an avid advocate in empowering women, especially minority women. She is a member of the Minority Women’s Health Panel of Experts of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Ms. Walch has extensive health care experience in clinical, management and administrative areas in both inpatient and outpatient health care settings; she specializes in community based long term care, patient and health education, wellness through health promotion and disease prevention, women’s health, cultural diversity, health care literacy, quality assurance, and performance improvement.
Ms. Walch is a visionary entrepreneur; she is president of Advantage Health Care Providers, president of AIM Healthcare Institute, founder and president of the Filipino Nurses Foundation, president of the Filipino Nurses Organization of Hawaii, founder and past president of the Hawaii Society of Healthcare Education and Training, a founding board member and past president of the Health Care Education Association. She is an active in health organizations including the American Nurses Association, Academy of Certified Case Managers, American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, the Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program of the Organ Donor Center of Hawaii, and the Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness, Research, and Training Advisory Committee. She is also active in community business organizations including the Filipino Chamber of Commerce, Filipino Business Women Association and the Filipino Association of University Women.
Ms. Walch is a graduate of the University of Hawaii (UH), School of Nursing, and obtained her master’s degree from UH School of Public Health. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. She retired from The Queen’s Medical Center in Hawaii after 29 years of service. She and her husband, Gerhart, have been married for more than 30 years and together they have two children, Christeen and Kuhio.
